Pencil Sketches...

Tuesday, June 06, 2006

Hi

A few years back I started with Pencil sketching(not with color pencils). When I came to US, for some reason, I started liking colors, bright colors. Probably it makes me happy. So I switched to Color pencil sketching. Wanted to do some portraits but realised its too much to start with. So I did a pencil sketch of Bridge over place that was covered with Snow(hope "snow" is recognizable from the sketch).

Surprisingly, when I went to India, my cousin Sridhar had done a "similar" water color painting. Similarity here is the snow- bridge but either of us didnt know that we had done something similar. So I took pictures of it. Sridhar - Sorry for putting it in the blog without asking you!!!

Then I moved on. Wanted to try something different. "Different" in adding more perspectives to the image. I wanted to place different objects at different locations. So I caught hold of a Children's story book that has this picture which I sketched. Jokingly I called the small boy in the picture - "Ramana" ( Ramana when he was young ofcourse!!!:)

Then I wanted to try "Confined spaces" unlike the above image which is spread unbound. I tried to bring the perspective of a room. I struggled to merge the Wall and the floor but managed to some extent. Frankly a pain in pencil sketching is "Sharpening pencils". Believe me, more than sketching, I was sharpening some pencils so much that one of the pencil's length is just a little longer than the length of my middle finger. But end of it is what is below.

Next I want to try something different, challenging or inspiring...Will continue to post them as I do.
